The IRL Supermarket Experience is Unmatched

I love supermarkets. I love physically browsing them, exploring each aisle and checking out what’s new on the supermarket shelves. Even if I don’t end up buying or don’t have an intent to buy, it’s just fun to discover interesting and different food or household items.

Even though I shop with a list (mainly because I’m forgetful and also because I’m not made of money), I still enjoy spending extra time just browsing the shelves, just for fun!

But I still do some of my grocery shopping online. Mainly because my local supermarket is small and has limited options plus I can’t be bothered to lug heavy items home. So I split my monthly grocery list accordingly.

I wish sometimes that the online supermarket experience can be as fun as it is offline. I mean, they do an excellent job of recommending similar products and related items, and I get why they do that. The journey from browsing to carting out has gotten so tight and almost frictionless.

But wouldn’t it be cool for a random option where you get to explore different categories you’ve never checked out before or browse new brands you’ve never considered before?

Even so, I reckon I will still look forward to my weekly supermarket visits and discover in-person what’s new and exciting on the shelves! Am I the only one?
